Peanut Butter Whiskey: It tastes a little like a liquid peanut butter cup, so it is the perfect addition to this delicious fudge! I love the quality of Skrewball whiskey and think it is perfect in this recipe. But if you do not have peanut butter whiskey on hand you can substitute your favorite good quality whisky.
Chocolate Chips: Quality matters in your chocolate too! High-quality chocolate makes a smooth and creamy fudge. I recommend Guittard or Ghiaradelli chocolate.
Peanut Butter: For the best consistency, use regular creamy peanut butter. Natural and homemade will be grainy.
Sweetened Condensed Milk: This adds sweetness and helps to create the perfect texture. Be careful not to purchase evaporated milk by mistake, as they are very different products and your candy will not turn out.
How to Make Whiskey Fudge
1) Melt Chocolate
- You can certainly melt your chocolate in a double boiler, but I like how simple it is to microwave in a large bowl.
- Simply place the chocolate and butter in a microwaveable bowl and heat for 45 seconds. Then stir and microwave for an additional 45 seconds.
- Stir well and allow the residual heat to melt the remaining chocolate pieces.
2) Stir in Whiskey, Vanilla, & Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Add the remaining ingredients for the fudge layer into the melted chocolate and stir well.
3) Pour into Pan
- Transfer to an 8x8-inch baking dish that has been lined with parchment paper.
- You can also use a 9-inch square pan but the end result will not be as thick.
4) Melt Remaining Ingredients
- The peanut butter swirl ingredients can be melted in the microwave as well.
- Once the butter has melted, stir all of the ingredients together until they are smooth.
5) Swirl Peanut Butter into Fudge
- Using a spoon, add the peanut butter mixture to the fudge in rows.
- Pull a knife up and down through the fudge in the opposite direction of the peanut butter lines.
- Next, pull the knife back and forth through the fudge in the same direction as the lines. This time curve your knife to make swirls.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing. Waiting is the hardest part of the whole process!
- Use parchment paper that is cut to overhang the sides of the pan so that there are "handles" you can grab onto. This makes it so easy to remove the chocolate from the pan.
- Lift up on the parchment paper to remove the fudge from the pan then transfer to a cutting board. This makes it so much easier to cut!
- For smooth cuts, dip your knife into hot water between slices, then wipe with a towel before the next cut.
Wrap your fudge with wax paper and store it in an airtight container. It will stay fresh at room temperature for up to 5 days and in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
Yes, when freezing fudge wrap individual pieces in plastic wrap and then place them in a freezer-safe zip-top bag. Remove as much air as possible before sealing the bag. It will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
Absolutely! To make the plain whiskey fudge simply replace the peanut butter bourbon with your favorite whiskey and skip the peanut butter swirl! This makes it almost exactly like the popular Jack Daniel's Whiskey Fudge. You can even add nuts or your favorite mix-ins if you want.
Feel free to use milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or whatever is your preference. Dark chocolate whisky fudge is my personal favorite!

- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (18 ounces, 518 grams)
- 1 tablespoon salted butter (14 grams)
- 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk, minus 2 tablespoons
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup peanut butter whiskey (60 ml, 2 ounces)
Peanut Butter Swirl
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter (132 grams)
- 2 tablespoons salted butter (29 grams)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons reserved sweetened condensed milk (38 grams)
- Line an 8x8 square pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- In a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and butter on high 90 seconds, stirring once halfway through. If the chips are still not completely melted, continue to microwave in 10-second increments, stirring each time, until smooth.
- Remove 2 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk from the can and set aside. Pour the remaining sweetened condensed milk into the melted chocolate, along with 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and peanut butter whiskey. Stir until combined. Pour into the 8x8 pan and spread evenly.
- Place the peanut butter, 2 tablespoons butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and the reserved 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk in a separate bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments until the butter is melted. Mix well.
- Drizzle the peanut butter over the fudge layer. Use a knife to cut through the peanut butter in a zigzag pattern to make a swirl.
- Refrigerate for 2 hours, then slice into squares.
- If you do not have peanut butter whiskey than regular whiskey can be used.
- Milk or dark chocolate can be substituted for semi-sweet.
