Easy and Simple - Hardly any prep work, so anyone can make it! Flavorful - Savory meat, tender vegetables, cooked low and slow. Comforting -  Traditional winter meal!


1. Add brisket, spices, and water to Dutch oven and simmer for 2 hours.

2. Peel and cut vegetables.

3. Add potatoes and carrots.

4. Add cabbage for the last 10 minutes of cooking.


- If the beef is done cooking before the vegetables then remove it from the pan and wrap it with foil (or keep warm in a 200°F oven). - Sub your favorite root vegetables, like parsnips or turnips. - Serve with a mustard sauce to balance the rich meat flavor.
