Place the berries, mint leaves, and simple syrup in a julep cup. Muddle until the fruit is broken up.

Fill a cup halfway with crushed ice.

Add the bourbon and stir until the glass becomes frosty.
2 ½ ounces bourbon whiskey
Top with remaining ice and garnish.

You can use your favorite berry or a mix of berries. Strawberry and blackberry are my personal favorites.Simple Syrup Combine ½ cup sugar and ½ cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium until the sugar dissolves completely. Let cool before using. Store extra syrup in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.Make a Pitcher (Serves 6) Muddle 1 ½ cups berries, 30 mint leaves, and 3 ounces (just over ⅓ cup) of simple syrup in a large pitcher. Add 15 ounces (just under 2 cups) of bourbon. Stir well and refrigerate up to 6 hours. When ready to serve, pour about ⅓ cup over crushed ice and garnish each glass with fresh mint and berries.
