Cookies and Cream - The flavor of these Oreo Truffles is just like your favorite Cookies and Cream ice cream, except these don't melt so you can easily transport them to your favorite gathering! They are a decadent treat and always a crowd-pleaser!
Easy - Since these are made without cream cheese they are so much easier to make than traditional cookie balls! Three simple ingredients go straight into the food processor or a bowl and it takes just minutes to mix up.
These delicious Oreo truffles aren't our only no-bake dessert. These Buckeye Bars are another of our favorite treats that don't require an oven!
Ingredients
- Oreo Cookies: Double-stuffed Oreos work really well in this recipe, as the cream helps to hold the filling together. Regular Oreos can be used as well though you may need to add a little bit more sweetened condensed milk.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: Double-check your can and make sure that you are using Sweetened Condensed Milk and not Evaporated Milk. Sweetened Condensed Milk is pre-sweetened and much thicker than Evaporated Milk. They are easy to confuse and unfortunately using the wrong one will give you a mushy mess.
- Butter: Adding butter helps the filling hold its shape and also helps to balance the sweetness.
- Candy Melts: I dip my truffles in white chocolate, but you can use milk chocolate or dark chocolate if you prefer. Or do some of each!
How to Make
Step One: Make Oreo Crumbs
You can make Oreo crumbs using a food processor or blender, or place the Oreos in a large ziplock bag and crush the Oreos using a rubber mallet or rolling pin until you have fine crumbs.
Step Two: Mix Filling
Melt the butter and add it into the crumbs along with the sweetened condensed milk. Stir or blend the ingredients until they are mixed in completely.
Step Three: Form Balls
Use a small cookie scoop or a tablespoon to portion into 1-inch balls, then gently roll into a ball. The filling should hold together easily. If it is crumbly then you may need to add more sweetened condensed milk.
Place the balls on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and freeze for 1 hour.
Step Four: Dip in Chocolate
Melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave, according to the package directions. You can also use a double-boiler if you prefer. Then work one at a time to coat the balls in the melted chocolate.
Place one ball into the chocolate and roll it to coat thoroughly. One of the easiest ways to remove the balls is with a fork. Simply scoop up the truffle and let the excess chocolate drip off.
Place the coated ball onto a sheet of parchment paper and allow to fully set.
What Kind of Chocolate Works Best?
I recommend Ghiradelli melting wafers. They are very easy to use and they firm up nicely once cooled. Wilton melting wafers or melted almond bark can also be used.
Chocolate chips are tricky to work with as their texture is not as smooth and they can be messy even once the chocolate cools. If you do need to use chocolate chips for dipping then add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil to the melted chocolate to help with the consistency.
Oreo Truffle Variations
Mix it up with different flavors and add-ins, like these fun customizations!
- Peanut Butter Cookie Balls: Replace the sweetened condensed milk with peanut butter
- Mint Oreo Balls: Use Mint Oreos and add ¼ teaspoon mint extract
- Flavored Oreos: Replace regular Oreos with your favorite Oreo flavor like Golden Oreos or Salted Caramel.
- Sprinkles: Replace the chocolate drizzle with sprinkles, crushed candy canes, or Oreo cookie crumbs

Yes, flash-freeze the Oreo Balls before placing them in a freezer bag, or separate the balls with parchment or wax paper. They will keep in the freezer for up to 4 months.
If your Oreo balls fall apart when forming them into balls then they need more liquid. If needed, you can add some additional sweetened condensed milk until you have a dough that is easy to form into balls.
