Georgia, the Peach State, became the fourth state to join the United States in 1788. Its cuisine reflects the rich agricultural traditions of the Southeast, where farms have long produced peaches, peanuts, pecans, and the famous sweet Vidalia onions.

Fried chicken is one of the most iconic foods associated with Georgia. The city of Gainesville even calls itself the “Poultry Capital of the World,” highlighting the importance of chicken production in the state. Crispy fried chicken is often served as part of a traditional Southern “meat and three” meal, where a main dish is paired with three classic sides such as green beans, mashed potatoes, or corn.
